Sport Policy & Culture

This cluster involves staff from across the University with expertise in Sports history, culture, management and policy.

It also involves researchers in finance, law, public relations, coaching, sociology and media with an interest in sport.

What do we do in "Sport Policy & Culture"?

We aim to highlight the role that sport can play in the development of society.

Our research has helped to develop sports policy all over the world. We have had particular success in Africa, India & Australia. Our research focuses on the following areas;

• Ethics & the history of drugs in sport
• Sport and the media
• Sports administration
• The legal aspects of sport & development of sports rules
• Social and cultural approaches to sport (including sectarianism & gender relations)
