Third Sector

There are a large number of organisations across the world that provide goods and services without profit.

These include (amongst others):

  • Large multinational charities, funded by donations and sponsorship
  • Local grant-funded projects
  • National housing associations, trading on home rents, sales and support services

What do we do in "Third Sector"?

The “Third” sector makes a massive contribution to the economy and quality of life in the communities they serve.

This area of research explores the features and dynamics of that contribution, examining 3 main aspects of 3rd Sector organisations:

  • Co-operatives and Mutuals
  • Delivery of public services
  • Social capital and community development
