How do we work with industry?
Researchers at the University of Stirling have a long track record of working with Industry and the private sector frequently uses, participates in, and contributes to our research programmes. This collaboration can take many forms, from short-term research or consultancy work through to in-depth projects, all of which are of mutual benefit to both Industry and the University.
Who do we work with?
We work with businesses in many sectors, and certain areas of the University are particularly active in working with Industry:
- The Institute of Aquaculture has played a major role in the development of the Scottish Aquaculture industry for more than 30 years
- The Department of Computing Science and Mathematics has a long history of working with industry, applying its knowledge to help meet the challenges faced by businesses
- The Centre for River EcoSystem Science has been working with industry to help it meet the requirements of the Water Framework Directive.

We connect with all sectors of industry through our engagement with Interface – the gateway for SMEs to University expertise. For further information on Interface, please visit their website or contact Lisa Melvin.
Through such partnerships we can pool efforts in obtaining funding for joint research and knowledge exchange activities. This funding can come from many sources including schemes such as, SMART, KTP, SCORE, CASE Studentships as well as Research Council funding.
