Knowledge exchange (KE) is about optimising the impact from your research through commercial or non-commercial means, and includes activities such as Commercialisation, Consultancy and Continuing Professional Development.
The university’s knowledge exchange portfolio also includes undertaking commercially-focused R&D projects (contract research) funded by the University, industry or from a variety of public sector funding sources.
Knowledge exchange also includes non-commercial activities, from disseminating information through presentations at conferences, or via the media, to active involvement in seeing the results of your research put into practice. These activities are sometimes funded from external public sector and charitable sources.

The Team will help with contract negotiations and authorisation from the University for official acceptance of contracts. Once your Knowledge Exchange activity has started they will brief colleagues in the Finance Office to facilitate project set-up.
